ARTIST. TEACHER. WORLD TRAVELER.

Marietta began early training in art under the instruction of her father. Her creativity came out of isolation in then rural Hingham, Massachusetts.

At age 23, after graduation from Boston University and marriage, Marietta spent her lunchtimes from work at Brown University rendering architectural drawings. From that clientele, she continued doing homes and businesses for 25 years. During that time, Marietta also taught art to children.

Eventually in 1989, Marietta became the Arts Coordinator for the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston, Rhode Island. Funding for avocational programming was discontinued in 1995, but she continued in another position there and in art as a volunteer ever since. Each spring, Marietta displays the work of incarcerated adults at the Atrium Gallery at One Capitol Hill in Providence, Rhode Island.

Marietta has studied overseas in Greece and Portugal. During the summers, she has painted and exhibited at Cousen Rose Gallery on Martha’s Vineyard. Marietta also painted during her work overseas as an international observer of elections in Eastern Europe for the State Department. Marietta served in Ukraine, Bosnia, Kosovo, Serbia and Albania.
